Rockford Park District's Atwood Park is open every day year-round and welcomes the public to visit for FREE self-guided hikes on the many trails within the scenic 334-acre park. Atwood Park’s history and biodiversity are something you’ll want to see for yourself. Come out and explore the beauty of the woodlands, marsh, prairies, and river today!

Come inside Atwood Center to view a Camp Grant exhibit, check out our animal room and meet live reptiles, or simply stop by to get more information about the park! Support Atwood by purchasing items from our gift shop, open during public hours. Visitors can view feeding time for the Birds of Prey every Saturday at 1:00 PM, as well as interact with volunteers and staff members of the facility’s award-winning Birds of Prey live exhibit, which offers up-close views of raptors, and one of the few accessible tree houses in Illinois.

Atwood Center

Atwood Center is open to the public every Saturday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Atwood Center staff will be on hand with a wealth of knowledge to share about the park.

Atwood Center has field trip and rental options available.

Birds of prey

This captivating exhibit features up-close views of raptors and is one of the few accessible tree houses in Illinois.

Visitors are welcome to observe, take pictures, and ask questions year-round, or come see the birds get fed every Saturday at 1:00 PM.

Atwood Trails

The trails include approximately five miles of multi-use natural surface trails for beginner and intermediate users.

The trails introduce new hikers, bikers, and cross country skiers to the natural beauty of Seth B. Atwood Park. Donations are appreciated.
